SAP CEO Challenges Nvidia’s AI Infrastructure Strategy for Europe

SAP CEO Christian Klein has openly questioned Nvidia's push for Europe to ramp up AI infrastructure development. Speaking from SAP's Walldorf headquarters, Klein dismissed Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's call for massive investments in data centers and high-powered chips as a solution for Europe's AI ambitions.

"Is it really that we need to build five data centers and put great chips in there? Is this what Europe needs? I doubt it," Klein stated during a press call. His comments directly counter Huang's June declaration that Europe is falling behind in AI due to insufficient computing power.

Klein advocates for a differentiated approach that leverages Europe's industrial strengths in automotive, manufacturing, and engineering rather than competing directly with U.S. tech giants in raw computing power. "The continent's power is its industrial base," he emphasized, suggesting Europe should focus on developing clever applications rather than replicating Silicon Valley's hardware-first strategy.
